Welcome to Egypt - the "land of the Pharaohs". This country lies in the north- eastern corner of Africa. From the Sinai Peninsula, which is geographically regarded as part of Asia, it is separated by 173km long Suez Canal. Egypt is bordered on two sides by The Mediterranean Sea to the north, and the Red Sea to the east.
The River Nile, 6695 kilometres long, flows down the middle of the country separating it into two different types of terrain; the Western desert which is a part of Sahara desert, and the Eastern desert (sometimes called Arabic desert) with a complex of mountain chains and plateaus, intensively dissected. Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is the biggest city in the African continent.
The greater part of Egypt lies within the zone of dry tropical climate, apart from the Mediterranean area and the Nile delta, where the climate is more humid.
In the south of the country, in the summer season, the temperature reaches more than 40 degrees. The temperature of the Red Sea is usually between 18 to 20 degrees. Visitors can always rely on cloudless skies and high temperature all year round. Egypt has the most beautiful shores and amazing coral reefs. The thousands of colours of the Red Sea' s coral reef and warm turquoise water are heaven to the water sports and swimming enthusiasts.
Egypt is also one of the most popular diving destinations. Its crystal clean Red Sea has been attracting divers from all over the world for years: the Sinai Peninsula, north coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, and deep waters in the south. More remote places are available only on a diving safari, where while living on a boat, divers can enjoy four diving sessions a day. The Red Sea is clear and full of different species of fish and corals. Dolphins, sharks, majestic napoleons, and many more can be observed here. Divers can choose a different region of Egypt to do different types of diving. Diving safari in the far south gives a chance to see one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the Red Sea: Dolphin Reef, Abu Galawa, or St. John's Reef (450 km from Hurghada). In the north, apart from beautiful reefs, divers can find amazing wrecks that bring a lot of satisfaction to everybody, who loves visiting these unique "underwater museums".
We would like to invite everybody to Hurghada, or Sharm El Sheikh, where apart from diving tourism, there are other attractions that can make the fascinating history of Egypt more familiar.
